Complacency and The Art of Looking The Other Way

Complacency is a marvellous thing. It allows people to conveniently forget facts and ignore the reality of the world around them… and then allows bigots and racists to form a political party that feels justified in calling for the violent overthrow of a democratic  government because the head of that government has skin that isn’t white.???

The idea that our president needs to be ‘dealt with in whatever way necessary ‘because he destroyed the the automotive industry and the banks and’ …. oh I forget the entire litany of abuse heaped on his shoulders. It makes me sick.

Bad enough, but  once again we are reminded, in the news, that women are inferior, that it is okay for us to be stolen from our homes and families in the night, to be abused, raped, tortured and told our problems are all in our minds. We’re reminded that men know better than we do and that beating us with a stick or a whip and calling us whores is proper in the eyes of all knowing, all-seeing gods.

And the majority of the publics response is… Oh, That’s terrible… but what are we supposed to do about it?
Yes, you guessed it. It’s an S.E.P. A Somebody Else’s Problem…  and if we don’t look out of the corner of our eyes we won’t notice it, and the proverbial IT won’t notice us.

As Orson Wells once said… Let Us Pray.
